Clear YouTube History, a Chrome extension.
Effective date: September 22, 2026
What the extension does
After you confirm, the extension clears the watch history and search history of the YouTube account already open in Chrome. It sends YouTube’s own clear command. It does not run until you press Clear all and confirm.
What the developer collects
Nothing. The extension has no account, no analytics, and no server of its own. It does not sell user data and does not transfer user data to the developer or to any party other than YouTube, for the clear you requested.
What happens on your device
To find YouTube’s clear command, the extension loads your YouTube history page inside your browser. That page can include titles of videos you have watched. The extension reads the page only to find the clear command. It does not save those titles, cookies, or history, and it does not send them anywhere except to YouTube as the clear request.
If no YouTube tab is open, the extension opens a background YouTube tab, uses it for the clear, and closes that tab. It does not change a YouTube tab you already had open.
Permissions
- youtube.com — the clear has to run on YouTube, as the account you are signed in with. The extension does not request access to any other site.
- scripting — used only after you confirm, and only on youtube.com, to send the clear command.
The extension does not use remote code. All of its code is in the package you install.
Storage
The extension does not store your history, account, or the result of a clear, except for a temporary badge on its toolbar icon.
